A supportive resource for families
LDA-CT helps parents navigate the system and advocate effectively for their children. Specifically, it:
- Responds to thousands of calls annually for information and assistance;
- Provides a continuum of services to parents, including consultation, record reviews, and attendance and support at PPT meetings by trained Parent Advisors;
- Provides special-education advocacy training annually for parents and professionals with state experts;
- Monitors the state legislature and advocates for laws that improve the quality of education for children with disabilities;
- Provides members with The Circuit and The Perspective--newsletters that provide articles on disability and advocacy topics;
- Sponsors an annual statewide conference on topical education and advocacy issues; and
- Assists young adults seeking evaluations for LD/ADHD and vocational counseling
